Senators Fall Short at Boston, 2-1
|
Boston picked up a win at Fenway Park , toppling the Washington Senators, 2-1. Pitcher Jim Buchanan was one of the reasons the Red Sox triumphed. Buchanan, now 2-2, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The loss puts Washington at 7-10.
In the bottom of the ninth, Mike Konnick delivered the big blow for Boston, stroking a game-winning run-scoring single off Washington pitcher George Johnson.
"The house was rockin'," said Konnick.
