White Sox Shimmy Past Senators, 6-5
|
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Washington Senators, 6-5, at Comiskey Park. Chicago shortstop Bill Wambsganss had a superb performance. He was 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Chicago reliever Scott Perry was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Ben Tincup. The White Sox are off to a tough start, getting just their 10th win in 26 games.
To win this one, the White Sox needed Wambsganss to deliver the clutch hit. His 2-run single off Washington hurler Ben Tincup in the bottom of the ninth won the game.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Wambsganss.
