Tigers Get Clonked by Red Sox, 4-3
|
In a close game at Navin Field, the Boston Red Sox edged the Detroit Tigers, 4-3. Boston shortstop Rube Oldring stood apart with his performance. He was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Bullet Joe Bush, who threw 95 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 4 hits. Boston goes to 13-13.
There was more than one reason the Red Sox beat the Tigers, but Oldring's big at-bat in the top of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"We did enough to win," said Oldring.
