Senators Fall Short at St. Louis, 1-0
|
The St. Louis Browns finished things off in style.
Washington pitcher Ben Tincup gave the Browns all they could handle, but in the end, St. Louis left Sportsman's Park IV with a win, 1-0. Tincup allowed no runs on 2 hits over 5.2 innings. St. Louis reliever Tommy C Thompson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ray Tift absorbed the loss.
The Browns relied on pinch hitter Bing Miller for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring triple to seal the deal.
"This joint was rocking," said Miller.
Yes, it was a win for St. Louis; but their 11-21 record is still nothing to boast about.
