White Sox Deal Red Sox Painful Loss
|
Chicago rode a good effort from starter Harry Coveleski to beat the Boston Red Sox at Comiskey Park. The final score was 2-1. The White Sox, now 18-19, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
In the bottom of the ninth, Al Platte knew he could end it with one good swing of the bat. And he did, hitting a run-scoring single off Boston pitcher Johnny Tillman.
"You don't always need a lot of runs to win," said Platte. "Sometimes you need just one or two."
