Phillies Improve to 20-18 with 6-4 Win
The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Chicago Cubs, 6-4, in NL action at Baker Bowl. Philadelphia pitcher Lefty Tyler had a standout performance. Tyler, now 3-3, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing 4 runs. The win for the Phillies lifted their record to 20-18.

Casey Stengel contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a sacrifice fly. It was one at-bat that helped Philadelphia get the win.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Stengel. "And not try to do too much."
