Win Lifts Braves to 29-13
|
Boston Braves pitcher Charles Parkins was in fine form, leading his team past the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-1. Parkins got the win, improving to 7-1. He allowed 8 hits and walked 0 over 9 innings. Parkins allowed 1 run. The win lifted the Boston record to 29-13.
Vic Saier had a big 2-run double for the Braves in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Boston leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Ad Brennan and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Braves ahead, 4-1.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Philadelphia manager Fred Clarke.
