Visiting Senators Beat Athletics, 8-1
|
Washington Senators starter Al Bonner turned in an exceptional performance against the Philadelphia Athletics at Shibe Park, resulting in a Washington win, 8-1. Bonner, now 7-3, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 6, and allowing 1 run. The win lifted the Washington record to 24-19.
Everett Scott had a timely hit in the top of the fifth inning. With no one out and a runner on 2nd, the Washington shortstop hit a run-scoring triple. That put the Senators in front, 8-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Washington manager Zachery Marchese.
