The Brooklyn Robins took Cincinnati pitcher Bill Hopper's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Redland Field. The final score had Brooklyn getting past the Reds, 5-3. Hopper went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 6. The win belongs to Ed Kusel in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Herb Pennock took the loss for Cincinnati. Brooklyn goes to 24-27, Cincinnati to 22-30.
Having an impact for Brooklyn was Irish Meusel. In the top of the ninth inning, the 22-year old left fielder had a run-scoring walk to make the score 5-3, Robins.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Meusel.
