On Road, Brooklyn Beats St. Louis, 4-3
|
Brooklyn beat St. Louis on the strength of starter Frank Arellanes's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Arellanes got the win, improving to 5-7. He allowed 8 hits and walked 5 over 8.2 innings. Arellanes allowed 3 runs. Ed Kusel converted his 3rd save in 3 tries.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Hank Perry, the 28-year old center fielder ? Perry stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Brooklyn up, 4-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We squandered some opportunities," said St. Louis manager John Hartgraves.
Brooklyn, at 26-29, occupies 5th place in the NL.
