Senators Resilient in 2-1 Win Over Chicago
|
Pitcher Al Bonner was sensational for the Washington Senators in his team's 2-1 triumph over the Chicago White Sox. Bonner picked up the win, and it was well-earned. Bonner went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 8-3. The win elevated the Senators to 31-24.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 1-1, pinch hitter Max Carey won it for Washington. With the bases loaded, Carey hit a 1-2 fastball from Harry Coveleski for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 2-1 win.
"Exhilarating win," said Carey.
