Starting pitcher Kid Speer was a major factor in the 13-2 Washington Senators triumph over the Philadelphia Athletics. Philadelphia has now lost 8 consecutive games.

In the bottom of the third, second baseman Bill Sweeney hit a 2-run single to center. The single, which was hit off of Rube Marquard, gave Washington a 7-2 lead.
