Tigers Drop Indians, 2-1, with Late Score
|
The Detroit Tigers did just enough to secure a victory over the Cleveland Indians, 2-1, at Navin Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Stan Coveleski. The Tigers have an impressive 45-24 record.
The Tigers relied on third baseman Red J Smith for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the ninth, he delivered, hitting a solo home run to seal the deal.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Detroit manager Rick Phillips.
