The Boston Braves eked out a 3-2 win versus the Philadelphia Phillies at Baker Bowl. Nobody did more than pitcher Art Schimpf. He was terrific. Schimpf went the distance for Boston. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. The win gives Boston a season record of 43-30.

Schimpf delivered in the top of the eighth inning for Boston. With the game tied and a runner on 2nd, the pitcher hit a run-scoring single to left-center.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Schimpf.
