Victory Takes Red Sox to 39-37
|
Boston pitcher Rube Evans did his part in helping his team beat the Washington Senators, 7-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Evans, now 2-2, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The 5th-place Senators have lost 8 consecutive games.
Having an impact for Boston was Bill McCabe. In the bottom of the first inning, the slick-fielding center fielder had a 2-run double to make the score 3-0, Red Sox.
"We take it day by day here," said McCabe, "and today was a good one for us."
