Somers Park was the site of a competitive game between the Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers.
The Detroit Tigers got a stellar performance from pitcher Stan Coveleski, who handcuffed the Cleveland offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Somers Park. The winning pitcher was Coveleski, now 14-5. He tossed 9 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5.
Steve Evans contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the second. With a runner on 1st, he reached on an error by the 1B. It was one at-bat that helped Detroit get the win.
"It was a solid team effort," Evans said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
Detroit now has a record of 49-28 with the win.
