Senators Need Extra Innings to Top White Sox, 3-2
|
The Chicago White Sox got a superb performance from pitcher Willie Mitchell. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Washington. The Senators won the game, 3-2. Mitchell threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball. Washington has rattled off 4 straight wins.
Everett Scott's at-bat with one out in the top of the 11th was critical. The Washington shortstop hit a sacrifice fly, to put his team on top, 3-2. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Scott.
