Late Rally by Senators Locks Up 4-2 Win
|
The Washington Senators picked up a win at Sportsman's Park IV, knocking off the St. Louis Browns, 4-2. Starting pitcher Al Bonner played a key role in the triumph. Bonner went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 10-7. With the victory, the Senators upped their record to 45-38.
Both teams had trouble scoring runs. So, Howie Shanks's at-bat in the top of the ninth was crucial. With two out, the Washington third baseman hit a 2-run single, to give his team a 4-2 lead.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Washington manager Zachery Marchese.
