Cubs Foil Giants, 3-2
|
Chicago starter Smoky Joe Wood pitched well against the New York Giants at West Side Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. Ben DeMott got the save, his 6th in 7 chances. The loss makes New York 41-53.
The Cubs got a big at-bat from catcher Wally Schang, who in the bottom of the sixth hit a solo home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Cubs on top, 3-0.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Schang.
