White Sox Win, 4-1, Over New York
|
The Chicago White Sox picked up a win at Brush Stadium (AL), knocking off the New York Yankees, 4-1. Starting pitcher Dick Crutcher was an essential part of his team's success. The 6th-place White Sox go to 45-54.
One of the stars of the game was Chicago right fielder Al Platte. In the top of the fourth with one out, he got a fastball from Ralph Glaze and hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-0 in favor of the White Sox.
Platte said his team "played with determination."
