The New York Giants thumped the Chicago Cubs, 12-2, at West Side Park. John S Farrell was a big reason his team got the win. Farrell went 2 for 2 with a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The Giants move to 43-53 with the win, while the Cubs drop to 48-51.

In the top of the second, with the game still scoreless, Farrell hit a run-scoring double to put his team in the lead.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Chicago manager Mike McCarver. "We got flat-out beat."
