Browns Jolt Senators, 5-2, with Late Rally
The Washington Senators got a sterling performance from pitcher Kid Speer, but the St. Louis Browns still prevailed, 5-2. Speer threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Tommy C Thompson got the save, his 9th in 11 chances. The win has St. Louis at 40-62.

St. Louis used the timely hitting of Frank Baker to capture the win. The third baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Browns on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Browns manager Ducky Hemp. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
