Indians Trip Athletics, 4-3, in Extra Innings
|
Cleveland Indians starter Doc Crandall pitched a strong game against the Philadelphia Athletics at Shibe Park, leading the Indians to victory, 4-3. Hub Perdue was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 2 save opportunities. The triumph puts Cleveland at 62-40 for the season.
Shoeless Joe Jackson's at-bat in the top of the ninth was significant for the Indians. Coming to the plate with a runner on 1st and Cleveland trailing 3-2, the Indians center fielder hit a run-scoring single.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Crandall said.
