Reds Get Dramatic 5-4 Triumph
The Cincinnati Reds faced a tough opponent in Brooklyn pitcher Vean Gregg, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Redland Field by a final score of 5-4. Gregg went 10 innings and allowed 4 runs. The last-place Reds improved to 44-60.

The most significant at-bat for Cincinnati came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the ninth. Reds third baseman Frank LaPorte hit a 2-run double to win the game.

"Exciting game to play in," said LaPorte. "Getting the win makes it even better."
