6-3 Win Gets Brooklyn to 54-50
|
The Brooklyn Robins grabbed a win, 6-3, over the St. Louis Cardinals at Robison Field. Brooklyn left fielder Irish Meusel went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Frank Arellanes, the winning pitcher, is now 12-11. He went 9 innings, allowing 3 runs on 10 hits, while fanning 0 and walking 1. With the win, Brooklyn raised its record to 54-50.
Cotton Tierney, the top prospect , had a direct impact on the outcome. Tierney contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Brooklyn up, 4-2.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Meusel told the Brooklyn Daily. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
