Tyler Records Shutout Against Pirates
|
It wasn't easy but Lefty Tyler made it look that way.
Tyler silenced the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-0, in a Philadelphia Phillies triumph at Forbes Field today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Tyler said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 1 walk and 3 hits.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."
So far this season Tyler has a record of 11-12 with 84 strikeouts and 89 walks in 212.1 innings and a 2.88 ERA.
