The New York Yankees got a strong performance from pitcher Ed Summers, who stymied the Chicago offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Comiskey Park. Summers, now 19-8, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 0, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. With the win, New York upped its record to 74-40.
In the top of the fifth, center fielder Amos Strunk hit a run-scoring double to center. The double, which was hit off of Burt Keeley, gave New York a 3-2 lead.
"Winning is contagious," said Summers. "We're looking forward to the next game."
