The Brooklyn Robins topped the Cincinnati Reds, 8-6, with second baseman Larry Doyle playing a big role. Doyle was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Robins in the win. Elmer Steele earned the save, his 6th in 6 tries. Brooklyn now has a record of 64-55 with the win.
In the bottom of the sixth inning of a 6-6 tie, Brooklyn left fielder Irish Meusel hit a run-scoring single. It broke the deadlock and put Brooklyn on top, 7-6.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Doyle told the Brooklyn Daily.
