With 4-2 Win, Senators Improve to 62-56
|
Washington picked up a win at Comiskey Park, bumping off the Chicago White Sox, 4-2. Pitcher Kid Speer was a major reason the Senators emerged victorious. Speer went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 8-8. The win puts Washington at 62-56 this season.
With runs few and far between, the Senators had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Washington came in the top of the second inning, when center fielder Benny Kauff delivered a run-scoring triple. The triple was hit off Burt Keeley and made the score 1-0, Senators. Kauff went 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles.
Speer called the win "a collective effort."
