Lefty Crutcher Leads Chicago to 3-1 Win
|
Pitcher Dick Crutcher was rock solid in helping the Chicago White Sox beat the Philadelphia Athletics, 3-1. Red Hoff notched his 11th save in 15 chances. Chicago, at 54-72, sits in 6th place in the AL.
Crutcher, who leaned on his curveball, allowed 1 run on just 2 hits over 8.1 innings for the White Sox. For the most part, Philadelphia hitters were simply overmatched.
"This was a tough loss," said Philadelphia manager Dave Jackson. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
