|
Chicago starter Burt Keeley pitched well against the Detroit Tigers at Navin Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-0. Keeley, the winner, moves to 9-8. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 1 walk. Red Hoff earned his 12th save in 16 chances.
The White Sox benefited from an error in the top of the eighth inning. Chicago was leading 1-0 when Ray Schalk hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Chicago in front, 3-0.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Keeley.
With the win, the White Sox improved to 55-72.
