Phillies Get Past New York for 3-2 Win
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Giants, pitcher Lefty Tyler was the difference between victory and defeat. The Philadelphia left-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 Phillies win. The win gives Philadelphia a season record of 68-64.
In the bottom of the 8th, right fielder Elmer Flick gave Philadelphia the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Phillies had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off New York pitcher Billy Neal changed that -- and Philadelphia went on to win.
"Luck comes in waves -- good and bad," said New York manager Dennis Pickering. "So, we've got to keep pressing on."
