Yankees Score Late, Top Indians, 7-5
|
New York second baseman Fred Snodgrass had 4 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Cleveland Indians, 7-5. New York reliever Doc Ayers picked up the win, upping his record to 9-6. Orville Kilroy shouldered the loss. With the win, New York raised its record to 91-57.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Mike Donlin came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Cleveland pitcher Harry Kane, he hit a 1-1 changeup for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 6-5.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Donlin told the New York Daily News.
