Giants Sneak Past Robins, 3-2
|
There was no shortage of dramatics at Brush Stadium (NL).
The New York Giants did just enough to sneak past the Brooklyn Robins, 3-2, at Brush Stadium (NL). New York pitcher Edgar Doty, in particular, had a standout performance. Doty went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Doty hit a fastball from Elmer Steele for a run-scoring single. The Giants, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"That's how to finish a ballgame," said Doty.
The loss drops the Robins to 1-2.
