Yankees Sneak Past Red Sox, 6-5
|
Not everyone stuck through the 24-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
The New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox, 6-5, at Brush Stadium (AL). The win was due in part to second baseman Fred Snodgrass, who was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Ralph Glaze got the win, improving to 5-3. He worked 9 innings, giving up 5 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2.
Snodgrass came through with the big blow. With the score 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth and two down, he hit a run-scoring single, giving New York the walk-off win.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Snodgrass said.
The Yankees bumped their record to 23-21 with this latest triumph.
