Phillies Sneak By Giants, 2-1
|
Philadelphia beat New York on the strength of starter Ad Brennan's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. Brennan went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 10-5. With the win, the Phillies hiked their record to 32-31.
In the top of the ninth inning of a 1-1 tie, Philadelphia pinch hitter Hi Myers hit a run-scoring single. It broke the deadlock and put Philadelphia on top, 2-1.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Brennan told reporters after the game.
