Yankees Win Close Shave, 2-1
|
New York Yankees starter Ed Walsh was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the St. Louis Browns, 2-1. Reliever Ed Summers picked up the win. His record improves to 15-6. Erskine Mayer took the loss. The 7th-place Browns have lost 6 consecutive games.
In the top of the 15th, right fielder Baby Doll Jacobson hit a run-scoring single to center. The single, which was hit off of Erskine Mayer, gave New York a 2-1 lead.
Walsh told a New York Daily News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
