Senators Beat Tigers in 11
|
The Washington Senators turned back the Detroit Tigers, 8-7, at National Park. Howie Shanks, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 4 for 6 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Washington reliever George Johnson picked up the win, upping his record to 4-8. Bill Steen absorbed the loss. With the win, Washington upped its record to 54-51.
The game ended on a defensive miscue. With Steve O'Neill batting in the bottom of the 11th, the Senators scored the winning run on an error.
"This place was jumping at the end," O'Neill said.
