Yankees Beat Cleveland, 9-8
The Yankees grabbed a win, 9-8, at Brush Stadium (AL), overcoming a fine effort from Cleveland pitcher Mellie Wolfgang. Wolfgang went 8.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. The Yankees bumped their record to 67-39 with this latest triumph.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 3rd and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when shortstop John Perrine reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run. The Yankees went on to win.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Tom Loftus.
