Crawford Helps Pirates Beat Phillies, 9-0
The Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates met at Baker Bowl to settle a score.

Sam Crawford left his imprint on the 9-0 Pittsburgh win against the Philadelphia Phillies. Crawford, who finished 5th in the NL in home runs with 3 in 1907, was 4-4 with 2 triples, a double, and a walk, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3. Ben Harris got the win, improving to 9-10. He pitched 8.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and no runs, while striking out 3 and walking 2.

Jack Sheehan hit a 2-run triple off Jim Shaw in the top of the third, which put the Pirates in front, 2-0. Sheehan had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 5.

Pirates manager Leo Smith had nothing but praise for his players after an impressive win, calling the result one of the team's best performances of the season. "Everything just came together on our end," he said. "I didn't need to do too much."

With the victory, the Pirates record now stands at 40-41.
