New York Downs Detroit, 4-1
|
The New York Yankees reigned over the Detroit Tigers in damp conditions.
New York Yankees starter Ed Walsh was in fine form. He led his team to victory over the Detroit Tigers, 4-1. The Yankees own a robust 78-43 mark.
New York center fielder Amos Strunk contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a changeup into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 136th hit of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 2-0.
"We had a good game plan," Walsh said, "and we were able to execute it."
