New York got a terrific performance from right fielder Baby Doll Jacobson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Washington Senators. Washington won the National Park contest, 5-4. Jacobson went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles for the losing team. The winning pitcher was Kid Speer. He's now 9-8. He went 8.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 11 hits for the Senators. Washington now has a record of 65-57 with the win.

Having an impact for Washington was Howie Shanks. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the 25-year old third baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly to make the score 2-1, Senators.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said New York manager Tom Loftus. "But we decided not to take it."
